THE WORLD’S ONLY
LIQUID CRYSTAL BIOSENSOR
FOR PATHOGEN DETECTION
Crystal Diagnostics’ Xpress Pathogen Detection System (CDx)
Liquid Crystal Biosensors, the heart of the CDx rapid pathogen detection system, is the first new food safety testing platform with commercial application in the last 30 years. CDx relies on a novel application of Liquid Crystal Technology to detect targeted pathogens. CDx is a faster, simpler, more reliable way of separating the signal from all the background noise, opening up an entirely new approach to food safety testing.
A revolutionary new food testing platform that can provide same day results
“We don’t need more food testing; we need better food testing technology. CDx’s reduction in test time supports more rapid identification of adulterants resulting in more efficient and timely decision-making to ensure product safety within the HACCP framework.”
– Dr. Russell Cross – Professor TAMU, Former Administrator FSIS.
Start to finish results under 10 Hours
Faster than any other commercial pathogen detection system, CDx gives you same day results vs. having to wait overnight before releasing product
Save 6+ hours with Continuous
vs. Batch testing
Test samples as they come off of the line versus having to batch samples over an entire production run.
Save 3+ hours incubation
CDx is accredited for a sample to media ratio of 1 to 3, saving media preparation time and money over other systems which require greater volumes and longer enrichment to reach detectable levels.
HALF THE STORY
The CDx System has been evaluated by AOAC including inclusivity/exclusivity, ruggedness, instrument variation, and lot-to-lot stability, and has been accredited “to be comparable to the reference method”. An independent, third party study of equipment performance determined that the CDx rate of false positives was less than 1% (based on E. coli O157 testing of 100 multi-sourced 375g RGB samples, per AOAC protocol), the lowest of any commercial system.
“As regulatory agencies continue to tighten food safety requirements, it is likely that more and more pathogen testing will be utilized to verify process control. CDx has developed a unique detection system which is highly accurate, reliable, and takes about half the time required by the FDA reference method. This STEC test will be a welcomed addition to many food safety programs.”
